Prague State Opera
Prague State Opera, the opera theater and ballet ensemble based in Prague (Czech Republic), belonging to the most important music scenes in Europe. Since 1888, when it was opened as the New German Theater, a number of artists of world renown worked in here(Gustav Mahler, Georg szellem, Alexander Zemlinsky, Richard Strauss, Enrico Caruso, Beniamino Gigli, Lilli Lehmann, Maria Jeritza, Leo Slezak, Jelena Obrazcovová, John Dew, Heikki Siukola, Vladimir Matorin, Jan Skalicky, Lubica Vargicová, Eva Urbanova ad.). The name bears the Prague State Opera since 1992, when after almost half a century-long union with the National Theater once again became an independent theater scene.
